Small Home Workout Equipment
Having home workout equipment helps your chances of staying consistent in working out, even in a small spaces. Having a small home gym takes away excuses that you can’t find time to make it to the gym, can’t find a babysitter to watch your kids, etc. you can just head to your workout space in the comfort of your own home when you have the chance!
This may be after the kids go to bed, while they’re watching Saturday morning cartoons, or anytime since it’s in your home! Luckily you don’t have to have a ton of space to get in shape.
Even if you don’t have a small home, you may have a small area within your home where you’re able to work out. These suggestions are great for small spaces even within larger homes!
Another great thing about having a workout space at home is you’ll save so much money on a gym membership that you’d likely hardly use anyway!
When thinking about workout equipment for a small home or small spaces it’s important to find equipment that lends itself to easy storage when not in use. You can even set up a home workout station within your home office, living room, small apartment, or even a studio apartment. No matter your fitness level or workout routine, you can effectively workout at home.
Strength Training Resistance Bands
Having a set of resistance bands is my #1 small home gym workout equipment! You can’t get much smaller than a set of resistance bands with handles!
They just look like pieces of rubber and like they wouldn’t help build up muscle but wow, after using them you’ll feel the burn you would from lifting weights if you’re someone like me who doesn’t workout much. It’s really cool because they’re so lightweight and compact it easy to take them out when you use them and stash them away when you’re done. If you have the space, you could keep them out and hang them on the wall or something as well. Resistance training is a great workout for your whole body!
This set has five different resistance bands that represent different weights that can be used separately or together to create even more resistance. They come with carabiners that make it easy to change the weight from workout to workout or from person to person within the home. They also include handles, ankle straps, and a door anchor for a complete workout. The set also contains 5 loop bands and a carrying case to keep everything together. Not only does a set of resistance bands have a compact footprint but also have a low price point especially for all the things you can do with them!

Mini-Trampoline
When I was little, my grandma always had a mini-trampoline…actually, come to think of it, I think both of my grandmas did, but anyway, I always thought it a bit odd for some reason yet thought it was great that they wanted to stay fit.
Fast forward, I have little kids and of course, they have A LOT of energy to get out, and having indoor little trampolines really can help with that. One day I figured well if they’re jumping on their trampolines, why don’t I get one too?!
I ended up coming across a great deal on a trampoline with a handle that both my 4-year-old and myself can use (separately of course). The handle is great because he can use it to be safe and I can use it for different exercises. The handle is also adjustable. The trampoline is compact and can fold up if desired as well. In fact, it even has a carrying case! This mini-trampoline set also comes with 3 resistance bands for resistance training to enhance your workout.
This compact design trampoline can hold up to 300 pounds and can be part of your full-body workout, as shown in their graphic below. Not gonna lie, when I jump on the trampoline, even just a little bit, I quickly realize how out of shape I am in and how much I need to use it more often!
Adding a mini-trampoline to your home workouts is a great way to reach your fitness goals!

Collapsible Hula Hoop
I used to LOVE hula hooping but hadn’t done so in years. I had always just had the plastic kids hula hoops and didn’t know there were much better ones out there. This hula hoop is durable, collapsible, adjustable, and padded.
The hula hoop comes in a rather small bag because it’s in pieces when it’s delivered but it is quick to assemble and durable once assembled. It also comes with weights that can be put inside of the hula hoop to add weight for a heftier workout. This hula hoop is made to be taken apart and brought from place to place if desired. Otherwise, you can just lean it up against a wall, slide in under a bed or couch, until you’re ready to use it again.

Free Weights Set
If you’re just starting out with weight lifting or just want to tone, a free weights set is a great place to start for any fitness level.
There are different weight configurations you can choose from based on your level of fitness and what you’re hoping to achieve. They come with this nice stand as well which will help save space and keep them organized with a compact design.
Be careful if you have these out where your children play as they may be enticed by the colors and want to workout like you do. You may want to store them in a closet when not in use or someplace where your kids don’t play if you’re worried about them getting ahold of them and accidentally hurting themselves.

Bowflex Adjustable Dumbbells
If you’re looking for a more intense workout and you have a bigger budget, this set of adjustable dumbbells by Bowflex are something that have a compact footprint but have a big punch! Gone are the days of having to lug around, store, and switch out 15 sets of dumbbells.
Each dumbbell adjusts from 5 to 52.5 pounds, adjusting in 2.5-pound increments up to the first 25 pounds. The dumbbells are made of durable molding around the metal which means a quieter workout when adjusting the weights and lifting-off from the base.
Yoga Mats
Even if you’re not doing traditional yoga, often a yoga mat is nice to have to add some extra cushion as you workout.
This yoga mat has 1/2″ of cushion, a carrying handle, comes in many colors, and has amazing reviews.
Jump Rope
Jump ropes aren’t just for kids anymore! Have you tried jumping rope lately?! Let me tell ya, I have, and wow I am out of shape.
I remember the days when I participated in Jump Rope for Heart in school and was at the top of my class for the number of jumps…yeah…not so much anymore. I’m going to need to build that endurance up again!
Here is a jump rope for adults that has comfortable handles with memory foam, a braided steel wire rope that is coated in PVC which avoids cracking or breaking.
They claim that jumping rope for 10 minutes is equivalent to jogging for 30 minutes. I’m not a jogger but based on how worn out I get from jumping rope for 10 minutes, I’m going to take their word for it!

4-in-1 Foldable Exercise Bike
Stationary bikes are one of my favorite ways to stay fit year round.
If you have the room for it and are looking for more fitness equipment, this 4-in-1 foldable exercise bike is the perfect fit!
With stationary bikes you can have a high-intensity workout that will help you burn more calories. Not only can you ride the bike, it also comes with a set of dumbbells and a set of resistance bands that help tone your upper body while the bike is a great lower body workout. You can either sit upright on the stationary bicycle or in a semi-recumbent cycling stance, both of which work different muscles.

Protein Powder
If you’re looking at adding a protein powder to your routine, I started using a great one that is plant-based, gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free, and vegan. There are several different flavors and options depending on your needs.

Protein Shaker with Ball
If you have protein powder you’ll likely want a shaker with a shaker ball as well. I know I love mine! There are many different sizes and styles to choose from. I have a Blender Bottle and it’s great because it has markings on the side so I can easily pour in my almond milk to 12oz without having to measure with a separate measuring cup. The included Shaker Ball is great to ensure all of the protein powder is mixed in and the top is leakproof and has a carrying loop.
Water Bottles & Yoga Pants
A good water bottle is essential when working out to ensure you stay well hydrated. I have a whole blog post on some of my favorite water bottles for all ages that you can access by clicking on the photo below. The post includes plastic water bottles, glass water bottles, and stainless steel water bottles, as well as accessories.
A great pair of Yoga Pants are essential as well, especially if you are female (do guys wear yoga pants?! hum….I’m not sure) These yoga pants are my all-time favorite even when I’m NOT doing yoga (which is most of the time). I wrote a blog post on my other blog all about why I love them that you can access below.

FREE Workout App
If you’re looking for a virtual fitness trainer for FREE try the FitOn app. It’s fun, upbeat, has encouraging personal trainers that truly encourage, not degrade.
You can choose from different intensity levels, which type of activities you like, how long you want the workouts to be, and more!
I tend to choose workouts that are between 10-20 minutes just to help get me moving, then build on that in subsequent weeks.
There is a paid version as well that is extremely reasonable at less than $30/year for workout plans and recipes. It is nice to have but surely not necessary.
It’s like having a personal trainer in your pocket!
